Group Counseling

Group Counseling provides a means where the group context and group process is explicitly utilized as a mechanism of change by developing, exploring and examining interpersonal relationships within the group. The group environment promotes safe and supportive conditions for members to take safe risks by extending their repertoire of interpersonal behavior and improving their social skills. Group members achieve a greater level of self-awareness through the process of exchanging feedback on member’s behavior and impact on others. This overlaps with interpersonal learning and supports the achievement of greater levels of insight into the genesis of one’s problems and the motivations that underlie one’s behavior.
