– Counseling Alliance of Virginia has been addressing Racial Trauma and fostering cross-racial conversations since 2017 in the Charlottesville and Richmond Communities. A key strategy in healing Racial Trauma is creating space to discuss race. This space has offered Acknowledgment and Validation of the harm caused by the centrality of whiteness and how it stifles authentic and healthy connections and relationships. These groups allow members to practice critical skills of understanding privilege and subjugation in the context of personal relationships in real-time. It offers members the opportunity to practice how their missteps become steady steps.

Join us for an evening of connection, fellowship, and creating relationships. We will gather to view Origin, a great movie by Ava DuVernay based on the New York Times best seller CASTE: THE ORIGINS OF OUR DISCONTENTS by Isabel Wilkerson. After the viewing, we will converse to learn from one another and share our reflections.

Light refreshments will be offered; you can bring your movie snacks or snacks to share.
